Sustainability
where it begins: responsible sourcing
At Yaffle & Bosk, we work exclusively with native British hardwoods, sourced from Grown in Britain accredited sawmills across the South West. Every board is fully traceable, from sustainably managed country estates, National Trust woodlands or storm-felled trees that would otherwise go to waste.
We choose timber for character, not uniformity. In doing so, we support British forestry, regional economies and the biodiversity of native woodland species.
how we work; low impact making
Every piece is made to order in our Devon workshop using traditional joinery techniques and intentionally low-energy processes. We favour hand tools over high-energy machinery, and we respect every board we work with.
Offcuts are repurposed for smaller projects or donated to local community groups. Waste chippings go to local farms as animal bedding or land mulch. Our finishes are plant-based, low-VOC oils and waxes, safe for people and planet. Even our packaging is plastic-free and recyclable.
Why it matters: built to last
We believe sustainability extends beyond materials. It’s also about craftsmanship and longevity. Every Yaffle & Bosk piece is made to last a lifetime, with timeless design and solid joinery that resists the need for replacement.
In a world driven by fast furniture and fleeting trends, we advocate for a slower, more mindful approach. We encourage customers to invest in fewer, better things, objects with meaning, provenance, and a story to tell.
Our commitment to sustainability also includes working closely with our clients to make conscious choices. We offer complete transparency about materials, provenance, and processes, and we’re happy to advise on the most sustainable options for custom commissions.
Sustainability isn’t a destination, it’s a journey. And at Yaffle & Bosk, we’re proud to walk it with purpose, integrity, and creativity, crafting furniture that’s as good for the earth as it is for the home.
